So hey, I’m leaving this blog to start anew.
There’s some people that know about this account and I’d rather that they didn’t.
That project I mentioned before will still be posted to my boyfriend’s tumblr, and most likely my new one. Definitely not abandoning it.
I’m still gonna be keeping this account around for a bit, so people can contact me if need be and so I can catalog the recipes I had saved under my recipes tag. c:
If you’re looking to follow my new blog, just send me an ask! I may or may not respond. c;Jan312014
You know while I’m talking about video games…
Can the video game community just stop using the word ‘rape’ to refer to when one player decimates another? That’s just disgusting, inconsiderate, and not at all humorous.
Seriously, everyone, just shut the fuck up if you even think about using the word ‘rape’ humorously or to show your dominance. Just fucking stop. It makes you look like you’re missing whole chunks of your brain.Jan282014
My boyfriend and I are doing a project of sorts. Let me explain first.
Seems like anytime a picture of a ‘girl gamer’ pops up it is either: a slender girl in skimpy clothing in a sexual pose or a heavier set girl with demeaning text slapped on top of the picture. A lot of these pictures are extremely posed, and there are few natural, unposed pictures of girls playing games. Just google ‘girl gamer’ on the images section and you’ll see what I mean. There simply aren’t that many pictures of all types of women just…playing games.
So basically, my boyfriend and I have started asking women we know for pictures of themselves just playing games as they usually do. We’ve asked a lot of our friends to snap a picture of themselves next time they sit down to play video games. The goal isn’t to make women look purposely ‘unsexy’ or masculine or anything in particular; we’re trying to capture all types of women playing games however they’re comfortable. Whether they’re in their normal day clothes at a friend’s house, dressed up for a video game tournament, or just chilling at home in their pajamas or undies or whatever. We’re trying to break down some barriers and stereotypes that people have about women gamers, because despite what many people may think, women are still treated very poorly by the gaming community and many people tend to place them in boxes. I cannot count how many times I’ve seen female gamers harassed in online game matches, video game forums, or even in-person gamer get-togethers. (Let me tell you: Competitive gaming communities are absolutely nasty towards women.) Another big part of this project is to show that many types of women make up a large part of the video game market, despite the market being skewed almost entirely towards males. To help illustrate this, we’ve also been asking each of our subjects to list their absolute favorite games or game series, so we can show how many types of games that women play.
When we’re done gathering volunteers, we’re going to compile all the pictures and information into one big post. If anyone has any advice for us on we could better organize everything or just generally make it better, that would be welcome. And if anyone wants to lend their own picture for our project, that would be welcome as well!
In addition to this, my boyfriend is going to be getting with a photographer friend of ours to do a photoshoot that places him in very sexual poses with video game consoles and memorabilia. Its most likely going to be a nude, or partially nude, photoshoot that’s meant to poke fun at the things that many men seem to expect from girl gamers. So we’ll probably be posting that in a separate post around the same time.
I hope we can make this come together in a cohesive and professional manner, and we’ll be posting this on Tumblr when we’re done.
(Lastly: We are NOT trying to shame women that do take sexual pictures of themselves along with video game equipment. Those pictures just seem to make up the majority of ‘girl gamer’ photos passed around on the net, and I think we need to broaden our horizons. I also don’t like the posts that shame the women in these pictures as ‘non-gamers’, as well as the hurtful images of girl gamers that people deem as ‘ugly’. My boyfriend and I believe that there need to be more pictures and media involving video games and females to show that they are a huge part of the market, and they come in all kinds of flavors.)Jan282014
Combined with the fact that Fur Affinity recently hired a rapist and a dog fucker to be on their coding team is just the cherry on top for the week.
I’m probably gonna be closing down a lot of my accounts on various websites because this just goes to show that you really fucking can’t trust anyone. People you admire turn out to be rapist. People who run websites turn out to be rapist.
Maybe all the older folks were right when they told their kids not to talk to people on the internet. I am so fucking fed up right now.Jan192014
And if anyone wants proof about Futret, I’ll post a link. I want to WARN EVERYONE though that the post I am linking to is a VERY GRAPHIC POST ABOUT A CASE OF RAPE. Futret is a goddamn fucking piece of shit.Jan192014
I can’t fucking deal with this, I’m done
How many other music artists are gonna be revealed as putrid sex predators?
Looks like Futret raped someone too.
And isn’t that disgusting that I have to say ‘too’?
God fucking damn, who isn’t a scumbag?
This makes me afraid to support any artist in general that I don’t know personally, holy fucking shit.Jan192014
